Finally the skylift was constructed and run from Gatlinburg to the top of Crockett Mountain which proved to be a big hit with both locals and tourists.

This Sky Lift is a 50-year tradition and millions of visitors have boarded the Sky Lift at the convenient downtown station for views of the mountains' seasonal splendor.
The Sky Lift offers a thrilling ride to the top which includes spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains and a fascinating glide over the Little Pigeon River on the way to the top of Crockett Mountain, which towers more than 500 feet over the town of Gatlinburg.
